Fuck Book Bans Giving Candle

“Knowledge is power,” but more importantly, knowledge is empowering. And it’s pretty clear there are people right now who don’t want an informed, educated public.

According to the American Library Association, the majority of voters oppose removing books from both public and school libraries. And yet, bans keep happening, disproportionately targeting books by and about BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ folx.

Reading expands perspective. It builds empathy, understanding, and connection. Taking that away is intentional, and it’s dangerous.
